"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, people, and tongues,
standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands."
Revelation 7:9.
Did you watch the Beijing olympics 2008?
What a spectacular event hosted by China. It was far beyond anyone's expectations of any olympic games. The closing ceremony played out like a well-rehearsed program, executed in almost perfection. I don't know about you, but I loved it so much that I saw the ceremony twice!
I was amazed at the number of people who were present in the Bird's Next stadium to witness the event. The stadium was packed, like a sea of people. I think I heard the announcer say that the number of poeple were in excess of ninety one thousand! I could never have guessed otherwise.
As I was watching the closing ceremony, the thought about the above verse from Revelation 7:9 crossed my mind. This passage describes the view in heaven when Lord Jesus will gather all the people at His second coming. This is the vision that John had received about the future.
View of ninety one thousand people was amazing, I do not know what that great multitude mentioned in Revelation will look like "which no one could number". What a magnificent view it will be! Innumerable crowd of people standing before the throne of the Lamb, all clothed in white, with palm branches in their hands.
Just like in the olympics where people from over 200 nations were present, so in heaven people from all nations, all tribes, and tongues will be gathered. If we read further in the passage, we see John asking who these people are. To this one of the elder replied that these are "the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. (Rev 7:13-15)"
These are the people who have fought the good fight, who have finished the race, who have kept the faith, and have received the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, has given to them.
Will we be there in that crowd, dressed in white and serving the Lord? Are we prepared for that day? Or will we be left behind to face eternal bitterness in the fire of Hell.
The time to decide is NOW, to place our faith upon Lord Jesus, to receive Him as our Saviour, to confess and repent of our sins, and secure our place in Heaven forever more. I pray that we will all meet there and behold the Lord in His glory and serve Him.
